Bar Manager
Position Summary
The Bar Manager will work under the direction of the General Manager, and is responsible for directing all aspects of operations onsite in the Front of House (FOH) including the Taproom, Retail Store, Patio and Biergarten. This opportunity is suitable for an energetic, well organized and self-motivated individual with above average communication, organizational, time management and troubleshooting skills. Significant experience being creative/innovative, translating vision into reality, managing staff and organizing advanced events are looked upon favourably.
Your day to day responsibilities include:
- Take brand ownership and provide the vision, mission, goals, oversight, and strategies congruent with our brand
- Work with the management team to establish, communicate, train and monitor the front of house staff, procedures and all aspects of guest interactions
- Oversee and manage taproom and events activities and event operations
- Collaborate with Chef and General Manager in the development and presentation of menus and features as required
- Supervises and manages the FOH team and day-to-day operations of food and beverage, event operations.

Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage
team members to perform to a high level ensuring excellence in client interactions -
Provides guidance and direction to team members, including setting performance
standards and monitoring performance - Assist in recruiting staff and oversee new hire training
- Develop and implement staff retention programming
- Develop, revise, and implement company policies and procedures on an ongoing basis
- Use an “open door” policy to acknowledge employee problems or concerns in a timely manner
- Improves service by communicating and assisting team members to understand customer needs, providing feedback, and individual coaching as needed
- Monitor actual and projected sales to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded and opportunities/issues are identified and addressed
- Sets expectations and holds teams accountable for demonstrating desired behaviors and outcomes
- Assign work tasks and activities, prepare schedules, and ensure that all shifts are covered
- Work with the management team to control inventory, order products on a just in time basis and set prices based on company standards
- Resolve customer complaints
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed and modify policies to reflect changing work environments
- Work with the Chef to negotiate contracts with clients for catering or use of facilities for events or receptions
- Coach and support the FOH team to effectively manage controllable expenses
- Understands associate positions well enough to perform duties in associates’ absence
- Manage all aspects of TouchBistro POS system
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
- Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces
Requirements
- 2-year degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related major preferred; 2 years experience in the food & beverage, or related professional area required
- 2-3 years experience in a comparable position preferred
- Excellent knowledge of all aspects of Food & Beverage Operations
- Excellent guest service and problem resolution skills
- The flexibility to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation

Salary: $39,000 - $42,000
