About the band:
The Swingin’ Blackjacks deliver a satisfying blend of Rockabilly and Jumpin’ Blues. Their musical recipe is carefully selected cover tunes and original songs mixed with high-energy performances and a love of the music they play. The trio has appeared regularly at local Toronto roots/blues havens The Cadillac Lounge, Grossman’s Tavern, The Silver Dollar and Dora Keogh Irish Pub.
Career highlights include appearances at the Grand Bend Rockabilly Blues Festival(2002),Orillia Spring Blues Festival(2003), Barrie Waterfront and Distillery Blues Festivals(2005), the East End Rockabilly Weekend(2010), the Bop n’ Bowl Rockabilly Weekender(2013), and the Durham West Blues Festival(2016). In 2006, the group was backing band for legendary rock’n’roll pioneer, Janis Martin in a rare Canadian appearance.
The Swingin’ Blackjacks have also performed live on CITY TV’s Breakfast Television and on both CKLN 88.1 FM and CIUT 89.5 FM. Recordings include “4 Hot Tracks”, a four song cd/ep, and one song - “I Love You So” on the Stumble Records compilation “Zombie Night in Canada”.
The Swingin’ Blackjacks play hard at every show, committed to their music and their audience. They conjure up memories as varied as a rockin’ juke - joint on a Saturday night, a chill breeze off the bayou, or a lonesome train whistle in the distance.
