What's "The Beatty Covenant"? Well, The Beatty Covenant stated that any purchaser of land from Beatty within the townsite must not sell, barter, or exchange liquor on the premises. The force behind the document was that Beatty or his descendants could repossess the land of violators. The covenant remained in effect in Parry Sound until 1950.
